Design Engineer / Musician / Builder

Karan
Kulkarni

Final year MEng Design Engineering at Imperial College London. I build things at the intersection of technology, design, and sound.

About

Engineer by training, creative by nature.

I'm Karan — a design engineer in my final year at Imperial College London, where I've spent the last four years learning to think across disciplines. My work sits at the overlap of hardware, software, and human experience.

I've designed medical devices for arthritis patients, built wireless charging systems for public spaces, run CFD simulations on mini-supercars, and developed AI-powered data pipelines. The through-line is always the same: understand the problem deeply, then build something that actually works.

Outside of engineering, I'm a guitarist (Trinity Grade 8, Rock & Pop) and audio nerd. I produce music, tinker with signal processing, and explore how machine learning can push creative boundaries. I speak English, Hindi, Marathi, and Spanish.

Music & Audio

The other half of what I do.

Music is where I decompress and experiment. I hold a Trinity Grade 8 in Rock & Pop Guitar, produce tracks across genres, and explore how machine learning can reshape creative workflows — from composition assistance to audio processing.

Production & Performance

Composition, recording, and live sound engineering. Building custom IEM rigs and signal chains.

ML in Audio

Exploring machine learning applications in music — from generative composition to intelligent audio processing.

Interactive

Games & Experiments

A collection of interactive coding experiments — from classic games to physics simulations.
